Mr. Li is a co-founder and managing partner of American United Management, LLC, responsible for strategic planning, business development, marketing and investor relationship.
Mr. Li is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 25-year experience in corporate governance, business development and capital investment. He co-founded and served as the general manager of a prominent investment consulting company based in China with branches in North America. He partnered in a wide range of investment projects covering commercial real estate, education, and mining, in U.S.A., Canada and China. Mr. Li holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and has the acumen in strategic planning and business development.
Vice President of Operation
Mr. Kau is Vice President of Operations for AUM. In this capacity, Mr. Kau is responsible for local operations of the Company, overseeing project and business marketing, public relations, investor relations, governmental relations, construction management efforts and compliance.
Prior to joining AUM, Mr. Kau was the Vice President of Brokerage and Managing Principal Broker for one of the top 5 commercial brokerage firms in Portland Oregon. In this position, Mr. Kau directed activities for 24 commercial brokers in the sales and leasing of all commercial property types and assisted with negotiations and deal structuring on hundreds of real estate transactions.
Mr. Kau also managed the construction and development accounting function for a national developer of affordable housing projects, developing 38 projects totaling 4,370 housing units at a cost of $384 million. Acting as partner in a local redevelopment group, Mr. Kau also oversaw the redevelopment of residential and small commercial properties valued in the tens of millions of dollars. Prior to his entrance into real estate, Mr. Kau worked for over 10 years in corporate accounting and finance with major financial institutions.
Mr. Kau is a native Oregonian and has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Portland State University.
Director of Project Management
Mr. Englander is Director of Project Management for AUM. In this capacity, Mr. Englander is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of real estate projects through the coordination of all stages of the predevelopment and development process, including land use, design, partner financing agreements, permitting and construction. Mr. Englander brings over 30 years of broad experience in business and real estate finance and development in both the public and private sector.
Prior to joining AUM, Peter practiced the principles of regenerative development since the late 1990s when as CFO he financed major expansions of business operations and led land-use planning of employee-owned Nantahala Outdoor Center’s real estate holdings. In Portland, Peter led real estate lending programs at the Portland Development Commission (Now Prosper Portland) and was a member of the agency’s investment committee. In Portland’s Old Town Chinatown he oversaw the largest redevelopment to date relocating and expanding the University of Oregon-Portland, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, global NGO Mercy Corps and Portland Saturday Market, investing over $100 million in LEED-certified public and private projects utilizing some of the earliest combinations of New Markets and Historic tax credits.
Mr. Englander’s real estate career started with The Balcor Company where he closed over $60 million loan modification performance letters of credit and refinanced over 50 projects nationwide worth in excess of $300 million through FNMA DUS, HUD 223(f), CMBS and tax-exempt bonds. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and holds an MBA from DePaul University, Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Indiana University, Bloomington.
